Visit the world's most famous Tantric sacred site!
The Yogini Temple, Khajaraho
The ancient sacred site of Khajaraho is home to many Tantric Temples. Not only are they a wonder to the eye, but they still hold very strong energy, or "Shakti". By using certain methods and meditations, it is possible to receive a special transmission from these temples, awakening special streams of energy within the body. Many who come to meditate in this place feel a nostalgic stirring within, as if remembering from time gone by.
In this woman-only retreat we will have access to these amazing sites, including the women's temple space, the Yogini Temple. Here we will do special rituals to connect to the Divine Feminine, and the 64 aspects of Shakti. Walking in the footsteps of Dakini's of ancient times (women who worked with the Divine Feminine energies) we will reawaken our Tantrika Energy!
Some details about this pilgrimage:
We will stay in the Osho Guest House, in comfort and serenity, with delicious vegetarian food and close access to all temples sites.
We will be hosted by the wonderful Swami Ganga Ji, who was Osho's personal guide to Khajaraho. He himself is a great master and will give us discourses and tours.
We will be using a dedicated workshop space within our guest house for some of our practices and meditations.
We will have a fire puja one night under the stars.
We will do rituals and practices within the temples.
We will have kirtan: singing devotional songs as our Bhakti Yoga practice.
The practices will be guided by Shashi Solluna and Shradha Devi, and will be based around activating shakti energy in the body. We will do daily meditations such as Shakti Shaking and Shakti Meditation (there is a theme here!!), which help to open the energy channels before entering the temples.
We will also study some of the Viygan Bhairav Tantra Meditations as well as practices from the ancient Kashmiri Shaivism lineage so that we are connecting to practices that would have been practiced here many centuries ago.
The Temples hold a very special energy within them, and also have some very special designs. Many of the temples are designed with an inner sanctum containing a Shiva Lingam statue, and then an outer elaborate design with erotic carvings.
These carvings represent Shakti: Energy/Goddess. By meditating upon them, we activate sexual energy, which is the root of all lifeforce energy. We are all created by sex...it is the root. We wil learn how to sublimate that energy, raising it up to the higher chakras. Once it is raised we are ready to enter the inner sanctum...in the darkness and silence within we meet Shiva: Consciousness/God. Here all the energies of life converge into pure presence and we naturally enter a higher state of consciousness.
After the meditation and realisation comes the celebration! We will sing to express our gratitude, singing the names of the Divine. This is our celebration of Shakti and Shiva, of energy and consciousness. Bhakti, or devotion, has traditionally been a part of ancient Tantra, sitting aside meditation. To chant in a place of power like Khajaraho lets us channel the energy into creation.
